  • Batman's{Ben Affleck} rehabilitation didn't affect his involvement

Ben Affleck debuted as Batman in last year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, reprising the role in a couple of scenes in Suicide Squad. By the end of the year, it appeared that Affleck would be starring in, and directing, a standalone Batman film called The Batman, with production likely to start in 2017, on top of appearances in Justice League and other upcoming films in the DCEU series.
So far this year, Affleck has dropped out of directing The Batman — with Matt Reeves stepping in to replace him — although Affleck, despite rumors, is still on board to play the Caped Crusader, with production now likely to begin at some point in 2018. Now, Affleck is in the news for another reason — his announcement Tuesday that he recently completed a stint in alcohol rehab.
According to EW, citing “a source,” Affleck’s recent treatment was not a factor in his involvement with the Batman movies, and he is continuing to work on the script for The Batman with DCEU chief Geoff Johns. Whether Affleck’s rehab program had anything to do with his decision to drop out as director of The Batman is unknown.
Affleck, who previously underwent alcohol treatment in 2001, came forward about his treatment on his Facebook page:
” I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.”

Affleck went on to thank his estranged wife, actress Jennifer Garner, for her help and support while he was undergoing treatment.
Whatever opinions one has about Ben Affleck and his part in the DCEU universe, it should go without saying that such things are considerably less important in the grand scheme of things than the personal health and wellness of this father of three. We hope that his recent treatment has gotten him the help that he needs, and that his recovery is a lasting one.
The Batman does not presently have an official release date; View Tube will keep you posted on the status of the film.
