World Cup winner and long-term Manchester United target Thomas Muller has said he wants to link up with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford due to a lack of game-time at Bayern, report Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
United are said to have had a £85m bid rejected last summer, and the German international has began growing tired of being a bench warmer under Carlo Ancelotti reign. Bayern Munich chief Jan-Christian Dreesen, has said an official bid was launched, but no discussion was entered regarding the high-profile transfer:
"There really was such a thing. Then came a fax from England. For us, however, a sale of Thomas Muller was never discussed."
The German league giants celebrated their 117th birthday as a competitive club last month, with their 10-2 aggregate win over Arsenal standing as a cornerstone of legacy regarding their stance in European football.
Thomas Muller has netted just five goals in all competitions this season, most of which have came after starts from the bench in a frustrating personal campaign.
A similar figure to the £85m offered last season, would see the Bundesliga transfer record smashed with the next most expensive being Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City for £63m
Bayern look set to grab their staggering 27th German title, with a 10-point drift between themselves and surprise second-runners RB Leipzig.
With the German star recently confirming that his personal website is now available in full English, preparations could, perhaps, be in motion for a big-money move to the English top flight.
