  • Alexis Sanchez facing six to eight weeks out with injury

Manchester United's Alexis Sanchez is facing six to eight weeks out with knee ligament damage, according to the Chile national team doctor Pedro Onate.

The physician has told Chilean newspaper El Mercurio the forward has suffered "medial ligament distension" in his right knee and will have "between six and eight weeks without playing".
Sanchez was forced off in the second half of United's dramatic 3-2 win over Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday and joins the list of absentees for this week's decisive Champions League last-16 second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

It means Sanchez could potentially play only twice more for United this season in their final two Premier League games against Huddersfield and Cardiff, unless they progress in the Champions League or FA Cup.
But Onate has allayed fears Sanchez could miss Chile's campaign in the Copa America, which begins in Brazil on June 14.

Sanchez only returned from Chile in December, where he had been recovering from a hamstring problem, which had kept him out for six weeks under former boss Jose Mourinho.
The 30-year-old has still struggled to make an impact under new interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having signed from Arsenal in a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January 2018.
